**Import Tuner**
Back for another attack, we subject Project Si to another round of performance enhancements in this Power Pagers installment. In part two, we concentrate on improving the intake side of the equation with A.E.M cold-air induction system, a Japanese-Spec Honda Type-R Civic intake camshaft and a pair of Dynamic Autosport adjustable Rocket Sprockets. Test 1: A.E.M Cold Air Intake...
Bolting in the protoype A.E.M cold air induction system was well worth the effort. Peak horsepower jumped a full 4.5 ponies from 151.4 to 155.9 horsepower. The power increase came across the board from start to finish in the rpm band. At 4800 rpm, the A.E.M system produced and increadible spike of over 10 horsepower and 11-lbs-ft of torque.
Test 2: Civic Type-R Intake Cams
With the Civic Type-R intake cam in place, peak power was increased to 158.1 horsepower, a 2.2-horsepower gain. From 6000 to 7500 rpm, the Civic Type-R intake cam delivered gains averaging four to five horsepower.
Test 3: Dynamic Autosports Rocket Sprockets
As a final test, we dialed-in the Rockets Sprockets to match our current combination of components. Since we were not using the sprockets to act as a band-aid for a mismatched componet, the gains from the sprockets were minimal as expected. Peak power only rose by .1 horsepower with the biggest gainsof the two to three horsepower being found between 5400 and 5700. Once other componets are put in place, the value of the spockets will be fully realized.
